NFC Glossary

In the following, we list the meanings for the acronyms and abbreviations commonly used at NFC. If you can’t find the abbreviation or acronym you’re looking for on this list, please let us know.

bi-ION®

Electrolytic solution which is used with nanoFlowcell® to convert chemical energy into electricity. Bi-ION® consists of a positive and a egative liquid. Hence the name “bi” for two and “ION” for the ion exchange that takes place in the nanoFlowcell®.

Car Information and Entertainment Display; full-length dashbord LCD panel with selectable vehicle information, specific EV information as well as entertainment and convenience options.

DigiLab

nanoFlowcell® 48VOLT E-Drive

Low-voltage electric drive with integrated flow cell power system; used to power QUANT electric vehicles made by nanoFlowcell Holdings plc.

NFC

Acronym for nanoFlowcell Holdings plc; holding company for nanoFlowcell Managment AG, nanoFlowcell Production GmbH and nanoFlowcell IP AG.

IAWDS

Independent All-Wheel Drive System. Each wheel of the car is individually powered by an electric motor – two on each axle; the system directs power to each wheel depending on road- and driving conditions.

QCAC

Quant Car Access Control; high-level encrypted, smartphone-based key and control panel to operate QUANT electric vehicles

QTV

QUANT Torque Vectoring

QUANT

Model name of first nanoFlowcell® powered electric vehicle made by nanoFlowcell Holdings plc; naming derived from the physical term quantum. Sportive grand touring saloon.

QUANT City

NFC’s international research and development center with connected production facilities for bi-ION® electrolyte liquids and nanoFlowcell® flow cell membranes; accomodates on-site campus for advanced studies and research in flow cell and applied AI.

QUANTiNO

Model name of nanoFlowcell® powered electric vehicle made by nanoFlowcell Holdings plc; abstracted minorization of the physical term quant. Sports coupé in the mid-size car segment.

QUANTiNO twentyfive / QUANTiNO 25

NFC’s 25th anniversary model; first fully electric car without batteries and extended range.

sensorFLOW® technology

Sensor functions under real-wood veneer light up as soon as the car is started and the controls in the form of capacitive switches become clearly visible through the wood.

Wh/L

Volumetric energy density – how much energy a system contains in comparison to its volume; typically expressed in watt-hours per liter (Wh/L); the bi-ION® electrolyte has an energy density of >600 Wh/L.
